ORIGAMI ARCHIVES 16
PICTORIAL RECORD OF PAST ORIGAMI ACTIVIES IN SINGAPORE
HOBBYCRAFT EXHIBITION AT MARINA PROMENADE (25TH AUGUST 1996)
This is one of the
Hobbycraft Exhibition organised by the People's Association (PA) of Singapore.
The PA is charge of Community Centres all over Singapore which run all
kinds or activities including handicrafts which would be taught at community
centres.
This is the worst Hobbycraft
Exhibition ever. It was held in an open field under tents. The temperature
rises and it became very, very hot. Visitors diminished as the temperature
rises (There is probably some scientific principle at work here!).
The fans and winds
gave us problems as our origami models were light and easily blown away.
The heat caused some our our origami models to curl up.
We stayed till the
end although there were smarter ones who packed up and left when the heat
becomes too bad.

Our origami display. |
| A clearer view. Note that most of
them are lying down. We gave up putting them up as the wind keeps blowing
them down and off the table. |

Some models liked the ones I packed inside plastic
bag and on a hard board were able to take the conditions. I had expected
the conditions to be bad when we were told that the Hobbycraft Exhibition
will be held in the open in a field near the sea. |
| A view of our stall and all other
stalls. Chan Yew Meng looks like he is on a vacation in Hawaii. |
