I have been folding paper for over 30 years. Some years back, an innovation called modular origami emerges and became very popular. It consists of folding a module and with some assembling and usually no gluing, an object is formed.
This modular origami has been taken to extreme here in Singapore and Malaysia. Only one kind of module is needed. From this module, endless objects could be devised. it has reached the stage where assembling has become more important than folding, hence I hesitate to call it origami which is essentially paper-folding.
All these started with he pineapple and the swan, and suddenly the possiblities seems endless...
The module is very simple (but the assembling is not) and here are the instructions:

And here are what you can create just from assembling that simple module. Of course you have to fold hundreds of the module....
SWANS & PINEAPPLE

DRAGONBOAT & HANDBAG

BOOKS
I have been asked many times about books
on this craft. So far I know only of one book in English.

Origami : Step by Step Illustrations
This book has many examples on how to construct the models based on just this one unit. Plenty of patience is needed for this as often hundreds of modules would be required. If you managed to complete it, do not be
surprise if someone offer to buy it from you.

Please do not ask me for instructions on how to do this. I have not practised this craft for a while as I have lost interest in it.
