(Oct 2001) |
Hi,
Listed below are origami activities I was involved in over the years. It is not exhaustive collection as there were many activities for which photos were never taken, others I was not involved in and for some, photos were "lost". You will not find that many pictures of me as I am usually at the other end of the camera. Pictures of origami models can be found in Origami Photo Gallery. |
2004 to 2006 - I did not participate in any local origami activities, hence I am unable to report on any of them.
10 January 2004 - Chinese New Year falls on 22nd and 23rd January 2004. I have updated my Chinese Lantern Handicraft Page.
21 September, 5 October, 19 October, 2 November, 16 November and 30 November 2003 - Conduct origami classes at Buddhist Cultural Centre at Yen Pei Building.
3 November 2003 - Official opening of Yen Pei Building by President of Singapore.
24 August 2003 - This year, I had not participated in origami activities organised by the Singapore Origami group. My work had kept me busy even on weekends. In addition, my interest in chess had been revived again and I had concentrated on chess rather than origami. I fold sporadically but had not purchase new origami books for a while.
The Singapore group had been involved in a number of origami activities including appearances on TV on 4 August. As I had not participated, I am unable to report on the event. The video of this event is in Chinese and is about 40Mb, hence I am unable to post this up. Myself and a number of others were requested separately to participate in the official opening of Yen Pei Building followed by a number of classes. This is a Buddhist establishment. Francis Ow was able to commit and anchor the event. I would be supporting him if I am not working on that particular weekend. He will probably start off with classes on 21/9, 5/10, 19/10, 2/11, 16/11 and 30/11, and I hope to be able to assist. The official opening was supposed to be on 14/9 but was postponed. The theme will be of Buddhist origin or Zen origin. I will await further confirmation of the actual opening date.
3 February 2003 - Chinese New Year falls on 1st and 2nd February 2003. Although I did not have a lot of time this year for making various different designs, I did manage to make a few. Visit my Chinese Lantern Handicraft Page.
4 January 2003.
I lost all my webpages hosted by Homex.
Homex shut down sometime in December 2002 without prior notice, causing me to lose all my recent updates.
I will have to spend some time re-building before all parts of this webpages become accessible again.
Please let me know when you encounter broken links. Some links cannot be repaired as the pages are forever lost.
15 December 2002: -
Liang Court Shopping Centre origami demonstration. There
was some updates but no major origami activities in the previous months. I will attempt to update this if I can recall what I did.
16 June 2002: The Official Opening of Braddell Heights Community Club origami activities.
10 June 2002: - 4 weeks of school holidays have seen origami activities springing up all over Singapore. These are not organised by any member of of the Singapore
group but by Borders Bookstore, shopping centres, voluntary groups, welfare groups and other support groups. I will put up newspaper clippings of some of these if I can find the spare time to scan them. Heavy workload have prevented me from taking the holiday I had planned early this year.

mainly dinosaurs. As I did not participate in the preparations, I do not
have much news to post here. However, I will visit the exhibition and report

- Added more pictures of lanterns I had made. Due to numerous demands,
I have added a section to teach children how to make them. Of course, I
had to design simpler ones. Although this is not origami, I have seen them
being called "origamic hongbao". You can view this at Chinese
Lanterns Handicraft page.
27 Jan 2002
- Chinese New Year is approaching. This year it will fall on 12 Feb and
13 Feb. As with previous years, I will be concentrating on making lanterns
out of hongbaos (red packets). The Chinese
Lanterns Handicraft page has been updated to include lanterns I have
made this year. Note that this is NOT origami.
1 Jan 2002 -
Added 3 folding instructions, flapping pigeon, talking crow, talking lips
in "Origami Folding
Instructions and Articles" section.
What better way to celebrate it than to establish the world record for
the largest origami snake on Sentosa Island.
Length of the King Cobra was 149 feet and 3 inches or 45.5 metres.
This model was folded in 3 days on Sentosa Island. This year, I had
reduced my origami activities due to other higher priorities. I can only
report those I was involved in or visited. The Singapore's group activities
(that I had opted out of) can be found on Singapore
Origami Web.
This golden dragon was designed and folded for me by Sanny Ang many
years ago.
I have kept and treasured it. I have never brought it to any origami
exhibition for display.
Here I took a picture of it and put it here to share with all.
I have surfed the net and look at books and magazines for origami chinese

that through the camp, the children will realize that they are not alone

archives (1985 - 1997)
Listed here are origami
activities and photographs taken of the occasion. There were few origami
activities in the last 5 years or so but a lot of origami activities prior
to 1995, most of the activities involve Hobbycraft Fair, organised by the
People's Association of Singapore who looks after the activities in Community
Centres. I stopped taking pictures and recording them when the Hobbycraft
activities had become routine. In addition, there were a lot of other demonstrations
done by others that was not attended by me.
